designforschung.org is an international open-access design research journal established in 2009 by Tom Bieling. We collect, document, announce, review and critically discuss projects, theories, methods, pedagogies and phenomena within the range of design, art, architecture, science, technology, politics, philosophy, history, urbanism, activism, migration, gender, inclusion, aesthetics and pop culture. Through a variety of formats, such as articles, critical essays, interviews, book reviews, case studies, announcements, reports (conferences, lectures, exhibitions), as well as short stories, poems, video and photo documentation, we develop and initiate debate through traditional and non-traditional forms of (non-/scientific) publication including visual and audio data. This also includes the transdisciplinary discussion on the progress of our own research projects.
designforschung.org is concerned with the epistemic potentials of design research, as well as with the question of which ways and practices of knowledge production we can develop and apply in and beyond the design disciplines. This also involves a critical examination concerning the role of design(ers) in relation to societal conditions and hegemonies, and the search for ways to make these visible and transformable.
